Goggle Eyed
Watch collectors are likely to be surprised, not so much by the novel two-dial look of Max Busser’s second creation, the Horological Machine #2, but by the many inventive features he has packed into its rectangular case. Busser, a small-production entrepreneur based in Geneva, has once again tapped the services of some of the most respected independent watchmakers in Switzerland, including Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, who designed a novel and efficient jumping hour/retrograde minutes display for the HM2. The case alone is made of more than 100 separate components that fit together as modules, a construction reminiscent of the Meccano erector sets Busser says he enjoyed as a child. Collectors who manage to get their hands on one of the limited-edition 125 pieces (at $62,000) will likely relish their playtime with the watch. (Available at Westime, 310.470.1388, www.mbandf.com)
Pharrell x Louis Vuitton biason
Old world meets new world in Pharrell Williams’ jewelry collection for Louis Vuitton. The stylish rapper and producer collaborated with Camille Miceli, Louis Vuitton’s jewelry designer, on limited-edition pieces that reference medieval symbols, but in an undeniably modern, hip context. The Blason collection, a French term that refers to a coat of arms, features stylized, diamond-studded coats-of-arms emblazoned on reversible rings, pendants, and cufflinks. Other symbolic elements include signet rings, artistic interpretations of the LV monogram, crowns, and cherubs. Created in 18-karat gold and diamonds, the collection ($2,000 to $60,000) is available exclusively at Louis Vuitton stores in New York, Beverly Hills, and Bal Harbour, Florida. Diamonds Are a guys best friend
Diamond house Harry Winston has collaborated with menswear designer Thom Browne on a line of understated diamond jewelry for men, the Harry Winston Men by Thom Browne collection. While many men prefer to see glittering diamonds strictly on women, this distinctive array gives them a reason to reconsider. In keeping with the refined, modern tailoring of Thom Browne’s menswear, the sleek white gold rings, cufflinks, and ties bars are defined by custom-cut trapezoid diamonds set in narrow diagonal rows reminiscent of the regiment stripe. The collection, introduced in the jeweler’s Fifth Avenue flagship in October, includes $8,000 diamond pavé cufflinks and a limited- edition $42,000 pavé diamond watch with blue sapphire and red ruby diagonal stripes across the face. Pharrell Opts For Expensive Tattoo Removal
To Pharrel Williams being a grown man means no longer have fire tattoos on his arms but instead of having a laser treatment to fade or remove the flames the rapper/producer/entrepreneur is looking to have his arms replaced! -- well, at least the skin on his arms. There is a revolutionary new procedure where a lab, using a sample of your skin, can grow more skin to be used as a skin graft over the portion where the tattoos currently reside. They just sew it on and voila! You have a seamless, tattoo-less arm that once healed will be ready for new ink designs. Pharrel doesn't seem to care that it costs upwards of hundreds of thousands of dollars for the procedure and it sounds like he anticipates a new ink job when his lab-grown-sewn-on-skin is good and ready.
Yacht "A" Picks Up Some Monet
Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko's long-awaited yacht is getting some pricey decoration. The wildly distinctive yacht, known simply as "A" named after Melnichenko's wife Aleksandra, was designed by Philippe Starck. The Times Online reports that the $400 million megayacht recently motored to Norway to pick up three Monet paintings. It is believed that Melnichenko chose Norway to avoid EU import taxes.
The 390-foot ship was built by Blohm & Voss and features details including a glass roof looking up into one of the two swimming pools. It has six guest cabins but room for 42 staff members.

Silk City 'Kuwait'
Kuwait's plans for Silk City (Madinat Al Hareer), no one will ever be more than three blocks from water or gardens. A vast National Wildlife Refuge is in the works. And medical treatment along with fresh, healthy food will be accessible on foot for 80% of residents. The centerpiece of the hugely ambitious project will be the tallest building in the world, the Mubarak al Kabir Tower, at 200 stories and comprised of seven distinct "vertical neighborhoods." (Fun fact: the tower will reach to 1,001 meters, an imposing physical reference to the Arabian Nights tale.) Add to that the four main quadrants of the city: Finance City, Leisure City (I'm totally moving there), Culture City and Ecologic City, and what is ostensibly an architectural feat becomes an experiment in crafting entire ways of life. With government investment of $132 billion, London-based design firm CivicArts/Eric R. Kuhne are ready to break ground ... and continue its labors until the estimated date of completion for Silk City, 2023.
